When it comes to delivering online orders, how fast is fast enough? I consider a delivery made within 48 hours from a warehouse in Colombo to be excellent and same-day delivery to be exceptional. At the same time, I tolerate up to one week for orders fulfilled by stores and warehouses outside of Colombo. Abans impressed me in both these categories.

I placed an order last Thursday morning at about 8:00 am on the buyabans.com website. Around 1:00 am, I got a phone call from the Abans Colombo warehouse. They had only one of the two items I ordered and wanted to know if it was good to deliver the same evening. I agreed, and my new Frigidaire hand mixer with bowl arrived at my door at about 3:00 pm. The other item, a Phillips induction stove, was delivered at 6:00 pm the following day from a warehouse outside Colombo.

The confirmation e-mail I received stated that an item was out of stock at the Colombo warehouse and that it has to come from a different city. My estimate was likely 5 or 6 days and an upper limit of 10 days. I was pleasantly surprised when Abans fulfilled the order within 36 hours.

I have heard few complaints in the past (pre-pandemic) regarding the BuyAbans service. This is why, even though our family has been buying electronics almost exclusively from Abans for the past 25 years, we have never placed an online order at the BuyAbans website.

I think since the Corona Virus pandemic, the e-commerce landscape, in general, has improved significantly. In addition to Abans, I have made orders through Singer, Sinhagiri, Keels, Arpico, SPAR, Fashion Bug, Hameedia, Lassana Flora, Healthnet and few others. All of them do an excellent job.
