Go to Diyatha vaccine centre instead wait for mobile vaccination

COVID19 Vaccination in Sri Lanka didn't have a smooth launch. Chaos was what was waiting for many who approached their vaccine centres. This chaos deterred many elderly and people with disabilities from obtaining their vaccination. The present situation is favourable, and I would recommend anyone who hasn't taken their vaccination to get a vehicle and go to Diyatha Uyana.

Old & Disabled People

If you take a person who is old or with a disability making it difficult to walk, you can talk to the soldier at the gate. He should allow you to drive into the parking area.

Once there, park the vehicle in an available parking slot. Then proceed to the "Registration" area and fill the form. You will also need to take the ID of the person.

Once you register, bring the vehicle around to the vaccination spot. A nurse/doctor will approach your vehicle. Once you give the vaccination card, they will administer the dose.

Vaccines Provided

The Battaramulla Diyatha (Waters Edge) vaccination centre provides the Sinopharm 1st and 2nd doses on 23rd (today) and likely throughout the week. However, the President's Office - Vaccine Dashboard states that it only provides the 2nd dose.

What about curfew/lockdown

If you are seeking your second dose, you can use your vaccine card as a pass.

If you are getting the first dose, you will have to take the risk and go to the centre. I came across a couple of cops stopping vehicles at Battaramulla, but they didn't stop me. If the police stop you, mention that you are on your way to having your first dose. They would very likely let you pass.

Army Mobile Vaccination Unit

The Army HQ Mobile Vaccination Unit does an excellent job and is a wonderful initiative. But if you have access to a vehicle, the Diyatha Uyana / Waters Edge drive would give you a quicker way to obtain the vaccination with minimal exposure. That way, you can reduce the burden on the system and keep them free.
