Keels Bleach - A good alternative for Clorox

Clorox is a world-renowned brand with a long history that is used synonymously with bleach. We are frequent users of Clorox since 2000. At this moment, we have 4 litres of Clorox in storage, a half-empty 1L bottle next to the washing machine and another 1L bottle in the kitchen. While I am very loyal to the Clorox brand, there are times when it is hard to find Clorox stock which prompted me to find a backup brand.

I have used bleach from the Keels and Aprico over the last few years. Out of the two brands, Keels Bleach seems to be the best alternative for Clorox. It is also the cheapest of the three brands.

Arpico bleach comes with an ugly label. I was sceptical the first moment I saw it. For the sake of science, I thought of giving it a try. That day, as I loaded the bags to my trunk, I felt my leg wet. I thought it was the ice cream, but I was wrong. Now I have a dark blue pair of jeans with a big white patch on them. On numerous occasions, I have noticed similar leaky situations with Arpico Beach. It is not safe for a bottle of bleach to leak when handling. The bleach itself is good, and I have no complaints about it. Priced at LKR 400.00, it is also not the cheapest.

Keels Bleach comes in a clean bottle with a clean minimal label that is nice. Kudos to the designer who designed it. Keels generally does an excellent job with branding. I find the bottle sturdy and more reliable than the Arpico offering and almost on par with Clorox. It is the cheapest of the bunch too. A Keels Bleach 1L bottle will cost you LKR 300.00.

Summary

Brand Volume Price
Keels 1L LKR 300.00
Arpico 1L LKR 400.00
Clorox 500ml LKR 300.00
Clorox 1L LKR 520.00

Conclusion

We still use Clorox for our clothes. Keels Bleach comes as a backup and goes to the washing machine if and only if we are out of Clorox. However, we use Keels bleach quite extensively as well. It comes in handy to clean containers and tabletops in the kitchen. It is also is useful to clean algae from cement and disinfect mops.
