Ruby on Rails Development

Rails applications, APIs, MCP servers and AI automation, from an engineer who has built two payment gateways on Rails.

Rails, Built Like Payment Infrastructure

I built GivingFire's payment gateway and donation platform on Rails as its sole engineer, and later the Rails payment gateway at Edge Payments Technologies. Both move real money every day, so correctness, audit trails and uptime were never optional.

I bring the same discipline to your application, whether it is a new product, an API for your partners, an upgrade of an ageing codebase, or putting AI to work on the data you already have.

Track Record

10 Years Inside Payment Gateways

Since 2017 my work has been payment infrastructure: first as the sole engineer on GivingFire's gateway, then building and leading engineering at Edge Payments Technologies. Systems that move money leave no room for shortcuts, and I bring that standard to every project.

Common Questions

Can you take over an existing Rails application? expand_more

Yes. I start with a review of the code and infrastructure, then agree a plan with you: the risky parts first, tests around whatever is about to change, and Rails and Ruby upgrades in small steps.

What is an MCP server, and why would my Rails app need one? expand_more

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI assistants call tools in your software. An MCP server in your Rails app gives assistants such as Claude a defined set of actions, like looking up an order or drafting an invoice, behind the same authentication and permissions as the rest of the app.

Do you work with existing teams? expand_more

Yes. I can lead a project end to end, or join your team for a defined piece of work, code reviews or architecture advice, billed hourly.
